INNOVATIVE ORTHODONTICS – WARM PEOPLE
Greetings! My name is Courtney and I have been in the orthodontic field for over 10 years. I’m the New Patient Treatment Coordinator at KO, so one of the first people you meet when you visit Kalamazoo Orthodontics. I look forward to getting you acquainted with our unique practice. I absolutely enjoy the easy-going atmosphere of working with Dr. Bowman; it allows me the opportunity to interact with patients on a more personal level. It’s always fun to make the patients feel at ease by relating to them in a fun and joking nature. As Dr. Bowman says, “We take orthodontics seriously, but enjoy providing it in an lighthearted way.” My goal is for all patients to be comfortable, no matter the situation, and leave with a smile and a good attitude after every appointment. I’m currently improving my own smile with Invisalign, so if you have questions about the experience, please ask!
I currently live in Schoolcraft with my husband, our three daughters, and a St. Bernard.
I love being part of Dr. Bowman’s team and I feel that we are more like a family than co-workers. I enjoy my position on the KO team because it gives me an opportunity to deal one-on-one with our patients and parents. Sometimes, talking about finances can be tough, so I appreciate helping our clients come up with satisfying solutions. I was new to orthodontics when I joined KO, but I am impressed with Dr. Bowman and all of his accomplishments, so I knew right away this is the place I wanted to be. I consider myself quite lucky to work in an atmosphere that is not only very friendly and warm, but also relaxed as well. To me, this practice feels like an extension of my own family. I really enjoy meeting new prospective patients and introducing them to what an enjoyable place our practice is. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the great KO team; it is so nice to work in an atmosphere where everyone works so well together. It’s also a wonderful experience to see all the beautiful smiles once the braces come off!
I am a native of the Kalamazoo area and I have lived here my whole life.
I am married with a wonderful husband of 27 years. We have two beautiful daughters and one perfect granddaughter. I am also a musician/singer and I play in a classic rock band (“It’s About Tyme”) every chance that I get (kind of like Dr. Bowman who plays keyboards!). I’m hoping someday I will get a chance to play music with Dr. Bowman, too.
I am the other Susan at Kalamazoo Orthodontics. I have been in the field of orthodontics since 2001 and with Dr. Bowman since 2007. I am also a Treatment Coordinator focusing on our younger patients and our KO Kids Club. I have over a decade of experience as an orthodontic assistant, so I am well aware of the treatment methods as well as the typical questions asked by patients. It is exciting to see the transformation of people's bites and their smiles through the course of treatment. It's also enjoyable to experience the patient's eagerness to see their end results. I also love the personal side of dealing with patients and their families, helping them step-by-step through the process of straightening their smile. Dr. Bowman has truly created a welcoming, family atmosphere here and we all work together as a spectacular team for you.
I was born and raised in Vicksburg, MI and my husband and I have two lovely children. I enjoy spending time with my kids, coaching sports, refinishing furniture, exercising with co-workers, gardening, and cooking.
Hello, my name is Paige and I have been with Dr. Bowman since nearly the beginning of his career. I joined him soon after he began practice in Kalamazoo on East Cork Street in 1985. My primary position with Kalamazoo Orthodontics has been the Director of the Clinical Staff but I have also been instrumental in many of our ongoing research investigations such as the Invisalign Teen Study, our AcceleDent prospective evaluation, development of our own orthodontic appliances, etc.
One of the things I have enjoyed most has been watching the growth and the metamorphosis of the practice throughout its history. When we first started, we only had three of us, Dr. and Mrs. Bowman and me. Over the years, we’ve added many wonderful employees that have made our practice thrive. We’ve helped numerous people with their bites and also unveiled so many incredible smiles! Now we’re seeing many of those same patients coming back with their own children for us to treat, and that is so very satisfying. I think that working with all the kids in our three practices has given me more understanding when dealing with my own children. It also confirms that my children are no different from other children, too.
I have a loving husband and six children (several are patients here) including a special needs child. Each of my kids is unique and it seems that my family life most days is like a scene from the movie, Breakfast Club. At this time in my life, all my free time is wrapped-up in raising and watching my children grow into interesting individuals.
I’m John and I’ve been employed at Kalamazoo Orthodontics as an Orthodontic Technician since the summer of 2002 when I moved to Michigan. It’s always great to see patients end-up with wonderful smiles! One of the best things about working in this field is experiencing the advances in orthodontics over the years (many originating right here in our practice!). We have a great team here at Kalamazoo Orthodontics and I’m proud to be a part of it. For example, I took the lead for the incorporation of our KaVo diode soft tissue laser.
I am not a native Michigander as I was born and raised in Galesburg (the Illinois version). I do like the Kalamazoo area much better though. But since I came from Illini country, I’m still a big-time University of Illinois basketball fan. Outside of our practice, I am a member of the Kalamazoo Jaycees and I enjoy doing work in the community with that group.
Hello, my name is Michael and I am the KO Team Laboratory Technician although I also have experience as an Orthodontic Assistant as well and can jump in whenever needed. My primary job is handling all aspects of our laboratory, including sterilizing all of our instruments and I also fabricate our clear “overlay” Duralight retainers, one of Dr. Bowman’s creations. I really feel I have an important part in maintaining the beautiful smiles that we create by preparing the best retainers possible for them. It has been a great pleasure to work with and learn from such an innovative team and doctor.
I love coming to the office every day, getting to meet patients, and help them on their way to a great and beautiful smile. I also love working around Dr. Bowman's awesome collection of music, movie, and sports memorabilia. It really makes it fun to not only be part of a practice that is making history in orthodontics, but to work around it as well. I live right here in Kalamazoo. I am married to the love of my life and we enjoy our four cats and a dog named Max. I also share a great love of music and collecting items much like Dr. Bowman. In my free time, I enjoy playing and teaching guitar, learning to play new musical instruments, writing music, reading extensively, and cooking.
Hello, my name is Holly and I joined the KO team first as a filing assistant for our front desk and administrative worker and found that I loved being here. Consequently, I am pleased to have become the Records Coordinator so that I can directly help our patients. I really enjoy working alongside Dr. Bowman and the rest of the KO Bracing Team. My favorite part about working here is watching the patients achieve their great results as we diligently strive to change their smiles and bites. It really is an amazing thing to be a part of. I am focused on our orthodontic records process but also have had fun doing videos of our satisfied patients, showing-off their great new results!
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and the love of my life, Nolan. I also have two kittens named Bailey and Barley that keep me busy. I also like to spend time running, going to beach, weekends at the motocross track with Nolan, but also just sitting on the porch swing and enjoying the simple things in life.
Hi, my name is Kim and although I am the newest Orthodontic Assistant on the Kalamazoo Orthodontics team, I also attended Everest Institute for Dental Assisting training. I then worked for a year as a dental assistant after graduating. Now that I have had the opportunity to change over to the orthodontic field, I really enjoy the team I work with and the rewarding results that we provide our patients. I love that I get the opportunity to interact with our patients one-on-one especially since we are always meeting new people, but we are also happy to see our clients return; showing-off their natural, new smiles.
I graduated from Schoolcraft High School in 2002, so I know our area quite well. In my free time, I enjoy training my new puppy, Lily. I spend time with my four nieces as well. Not only do I love that I work for Dr. Bowman, but I also can say that he’s responsible for my beautiful smile!
My name is Madonna Nimmo, but I typically go by Donna. I am proud to say that I have been a Dental Hygienist in the Kalamazoo area for over 25 years. I was thrilled when Dr. Bowman called to ask if I would like to join the team at Kalamazoo Orthodontics. Dr. Bowman expressed an interest in employing a Dental Hygienist to assist in all the important details involved in removing braces. I commend Dr. Bowman’s attention to detail. I enjoy working in collaboration with the KO Team, our patients, their families, and their family dentists especially in this much anticipated and crucial part of orthodontic treatment. Since I also work in a General Dentistry practice as a "traditional" Dental Hygienist, I really enjoy meeting with other dental hygienists in our area to provide an open line of communication between Kalamazoo Orthodontics and our patients’ dentists.
My husband of almost 30 years is Jim Nimmo, a 3rd grade teacher in Vicksburg. I love to volunteer in his classroom and I have also been a substitute teacher on many occasions. We have two great kids, Chelsea, a Speech and Language Pathologist, and Brady, a Radiation Therapy Student at Grand Valley State University. They are blessing everyday! I look forward to meeting you at our great KO practice.
Hello, my name is Cori and I’m one of the newest members of Kalamazoo Orthodontics “bracing” team, but that doesn’t mean I’m new to orthodontics! In fact, I have 6 years of experience in the dental field with nearly 3 years working in orthodontics. I really enjoy orthodontics, as watching our patients smiles be transformed from start to finish is the most rewarding aspect. I love interacting with our patients on a daily basis and getting to know them during their new smile journey. I feel very honored to be working for such a knowledgeable doctor. Over the years, Dr. Bowman’s accomplishments in the orthodontic field keep growing and I’m happy to say that I have enjoyed my own KO smile for many, many years since I had braces with Dr. Bowman, too!
I was born and raised right here in Portage and graduated from Portage Central. In my free time, I enjoy being with my friends, family, and my fiance, Jake. I love to travel-even just small day trips-and trying new restaurants along the way. I also enjoy camping in the summer and being outdoors as much as possible.
